AB1068,1,3 1An Act relating to: salaries of certain executive and administrative positions
2in, and the amount of nonresident tuition charged at, the University of
3Wisconsin System.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill prohibits the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin (UW)
System from doing either of the following until July 1, 2007:
1. Increasing the salary of certain senior executive and administrator positions
by more than 5 percent unless the increase is funded with gifts, grants, or federal
revenue. The positions covered by this prohibition include president of the UW
System, vice presidents, associate and assistant vice presidents, chancellors,
assistant chancellors, vice chancellors, associate and assistant vice chancellors,
administrative directors, and associate directors.
2. Reducing nonresident tuition levels below the levels in effect for the 2005-06
academic year.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB1068, s. 1 4Section 1. Nonstatutory provisions.
AB1068,2,5
1(1) Salaries of administrators. Notwithstanding section 20.923 (4g) and (5)
2of the statutes, until July 1, 2007, the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin
3System may not increase the salary of any position specified in section 20.923 (4g)
4or (5) of the statutes by more than 5 percent. This subsection does not apply to salary
5increases funded with gifts, grants, or federal revenues.
AB1068,2,96 (2) Nonresident tuition. Notwithstanding section 36.27 (1) (a) of the statutes,
7until July 1, 2007, the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System may
8not reduce nonresident tuition levels below the levels in effect for the 2005-06
9academic year.
