AJR105,1,42 Whereas, George D. McCallum was born October 21, 1922, in Fond du Lac,
3Wisconsin, to Neil and Hazel (Buehner) McCallum, and died April 14, 2006, in
4Madison, Wisconsin; and
AJR105,1,75 Whereas, Mr. McCallum served his country as a member of the United States
6Army Infantry during World War II and received a Bronze Star for heroism in action;
7and
AJR105,1,118 Whereas, Mr. McCallum attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering, the
9University of Illinois, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and worked as a
10letter carrier for the United States Postal Service before serving as office manager
11and president of the Federal Credit Union, from which he retired in 2003; and
AJR105,1,1412 Whereas, Mr. McCallum was an active member of his community, coaching
13little league and basketball, serving as a Cub Scout master, and participating in the
14Freemasons; and

1Whereas, Mr. McCallum was a dedicated family man who married the former
2Marilyn J. Libke on February 21, 1948, and they had 4 children, including Scott
3McCallum, the 43rd governor of Wisconsin; in addition to his wife and children, Mr.
4McCallum is survived by 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; now, therefore,

AJR105,2,9 6Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
7Wisconsin legislature commend the life and public service of George D. McCallum,
8express their sorrow at his death, and extend condolences to his family and friends;
9and, be it further
AJR105,2,12 10Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint
11resolution to Mr. McCallum's wife, Marilyn, their children and stepchildren, and Mr.
12McCallum's brothers, Keith and Neil.
