2005 Assembly JOINT RESOLUTION 28

AJR28,1,1 Relating to: honoring the University of Wisconsin Men's Basketball Team.

AJR28,1,4 Whereas, the University of Wisconsin (UW) Men's Basketball Team, led by Coach Bo Ryan, sold out the Kohl Center on a season ticket basis for the 2nd year in a row and has an active streak of 36 consecutive sellout crowds; and

AJR28,1,7 Whereas, the UW Men's Basketball Team won 25 games for the 2nd consecutive season thereby advancing to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament for the 3rd time in school history; and

AJR28,1,9 Whereas, the UW Men's Basketball Team finished 3rd in the Big Ten Conference with an 11-5 record; and

AJR28,1,12 Whereas, the UW Men's Basketball Team qualified for the Big Ten Tournament championship game for the 2nd year in a row and made the Elite Eight of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament for the 2nd time in school history; and

AJR28,1,15 Whereas, the UW Men's Basketball Team added to a home court winning streak that reached 38 games, which is the best in the nation and the best in UW history, until a midseason loss to top-ranked Illinois; and

AJR28,2,3 Whereas, the UW Men's Basketball Team earned an appearance in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament for the 7th season in a row and 4th for Coach Bo Ryan; and

AJR28,2,5 Whereas, the UW Men's Basketball Team led the Big Ten Conference in scoring defense; and

AJR28,2,8 Whereas, the UW Men's Basketball Team senior forward, Mike Wilkinson, set numerous school records and was named first-team All-Big Ten; now, therefore, be it

AJR28,2,12 Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature commend Coach Bo Ryan and members of the UW Men's Basketball Team for their incredible athletic season and wish them continued success in the future; and, be it further

AJR28,2,14 Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall transmit copies of this joint resolution to Coach Ryan and to each member of the UW Men's Basketball Team.
