AJR80,1,3 1Relating to: the American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen Program and
2supporting its effort to promote responsible dog ownership in the state of
3Wisconsin.
AJR80,1,54 Whereas, dogs play an important role in the lives of many Wisconsin citizens
5by serving as companions and assistance and therapy dogs; and
AJR80,1,76 Whereas, it is recognized that dog-related problems are most often caused by
7irresponsible owners; and
AJR80,1,108 Whereas, responsible dog ownership is encouraged in Wisconsin and
9responsible dog owners should properly control and provide adequate training for
10their dogs; and
AJR80,1,1211 Whereas, canine good citizen programs identify and officially recognize those
12dogs who behave as members in good standing with the community; and
AJR80,2,213 Whereas, the Canine Good Citizen Program which was developed by the
14American Kennel Club teaches pet owners that dogs should exhibit "good citizen"

1behaviors in the presence of other people and animals, in both the home and the
2community; and
AJR80,2,53 Whereas, with pet bites and animal trespassing concerns on the rise, there is
4a real need for dogs to remain well-behaved community members; now, therefore, be

AJR80,2,9 6Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
7Wisconsin legislature encourage dog training programs and kennel clubs to provide
8training and education for community pet owners that result in dogs being "Canine
9Good Citizens."
