AR14,1,3 1Relating to: asking the Wisconsin technical college system and the University of
2Wisconsin System to collaborate to reduce the nursing shortage and reduce the
3shortage of other health care occupation professionals.
AR14,1,44 Whereas, there is a health care crisis in Wisconsin caused by rising costs; and
AR14,1,55 Whereas, this crisis has left many Wisconsin citizens without health care; and
AR14,1,76 Whereas, high health care costs have added greatly to the cost of doing business
7in Wisconsin, slowing down our state economy; and
AR14,1,98 Whereas, there are many forces that drive up the cost of health care, including
9the shortage of nurses and other health care occupations; and
AR14,1,1110 Whereas, there are many Wisconsin citizens who wish to become professionals
11in the health care industry; and
AR14,1,1312 Whereas, many learning institutions have long waiting lists of potential
13students wanting to enter the health care professions; and
AR14,1,1514 Whereas, the University of Wisconsin System and the Wisconsin technical
15college system employ some of the best and brightest citizens of this state; and

1Whereas, Wisconsin needs the help of these institutions in finding ways to
2reduce these waiting lists and the shortage of health care professionals; and
AR14,2,63 Whereas, the assembly hopes that asking the technical college system and the
4University of Wisconsin System to collaborate to make recommendations to
5significantly reduce or eliminate the health care worker shortage will make further
6consideration of legislative action unnecessary; now, therefore, be it
AR14,2,11 7Resolved by the assembly, That the Wisconsin assembly asks the Wisconsin
8technical college system and the University of Wisconsin System to form an informal
9task force to make recommendations to the Wisconsin assembly on ways to reduce
10the nursing shortage and reduce the shortage of other health care occupation
11professionals; and, be it further
AR14,2,15 12Resolved, That the Wisconsin assembly asks for a white paper on
13recommendations to reduce the health care professional shortage from the task force
14of the University of Wisconsin System and Wisconsin technical college system by
15January 20, 2006; and, be it further
AR14,2,18 16Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk transmit copies of this resolution to
17the president of the Board of Regents and president of the University of Wisconsin
18System and the president of the technical college system board.
