2005 - 2006 LEGISLATURE
September 9, 2005 - Introduced by Senators Olsen and Darling, cosponsored by
Representatives Towns, Townsend, Hahn, Lehman, Ott, Hines, Gunderson,
Ainsworth
and Lothian. Referred to Committee on Education.
SB323,1,2 1An Act to amend 121.105 (3) of the statutes; relating to: state aid paid to
2consolidated school districts.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, if two or more school districts consolidate, the amount of
state aid paid to the new school district in each of the succeeding five years may not
be less than the sum of the amounts paid to the consolidating school districts in the
year before the consolidation.
This bill provides that the amount of state aid paid to the new school district
in each of the succeeding five years may not be less than the sum of the amounts to
which the consolidating school districts were eligible in the year before the
consolidation. This change allows for aid adjustments necessitated by errors in the
calculation of aid in the year before consolidation.
For further information see the state and local fiscal estimate, which will be
printed as an appendix to this bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
