2005 - 2006 LEGISLATURE
October 13, 2005 - Introduced by Senators Olsen, Harsdorf and Erpenbach,
cosponsored by Representatives Albers, Krawczyk and Hines. Referred to
Committee on Education.
SB384,1,3 1An Act to amend 121.90 (1) (intro.) of the statutes; relating to: counting pupils
2who attend the Youth Challenge Academy for school district revenue limit
3purposes.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, pupils attending the Youth Challenge Academy, a
residential program administered by the Department of Military Affairs, are
considered enrolled in their school district of residence for state school aid and
revenue limit purposes. Unlike other pupils, however, they are not counted for
revenue limit purses until the school year following their attendance at the academy.
This bill provides that the pupils attending the Youth Challenge Academy in
the spring semester and in the fall semester are counted for revenue limit purposes
in the school year beginning that fall.
For further information see the state and local fiscal estimate, which will be
printed as an appendix to this bill.
