SB48,1,3 1An Act to amend 30.52 (3m) (a) of the statutes; relating to: voluntary
2contributions made by persons applying for the issuance or renewal of a
3certificate of number for, or registration of, a boat.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, with certain exceptions, no person may operate a boat on the
waters of this state unless the boat is covered by a certificate of number issued by the
Department of Natural Resources (DNR) under a federally approved numbering
system or registration issued by DNR. A person must apply to DNR and pay a
specified fee in order to be issued or to renew a certificate of number or registration.
Current law authorizes the applicant, in addition to paying the fee charged for the
certificate of number or registration, to elect to make a voluntary $1 contribution to
be used for lake research. This bill increases the amount of the voluntary
contribution to $3.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as
an appendix to this bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB48, s. 1 4Section 1. 30.52 (3m) (a) of the statutes is amended to read:
