SB506,1,3 1An Act to renumber and amend 118.03 (1) to (4); and to create 118.03 (2m)
2of the statutes; relating to: prohibiting school districts from adopting certain
3textbooks.

This bill prohibits a school board from adopting any textbook that uses the
terms "CE" or "common era," and "BCE" or "before the common era," instead of "AD"
and "BC," when referring to years.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB506, s. 1 4Section 1. 118.03 (1) to (4) of the statutes are renumbered 118.03 (1m) (a) to
5(d), and 118.03 (1m) (d), as renumbered, is amended to read:
SB506,1,76 118.03 (1m) (d) Any person violating this section subsection may be fined not
7less than $25 nor more than $100.
SB506, s. 2 8Section 2. 118.03 (2m) of the statutes is created to read:

1118.03 (2m) A school board may not adopt any textbook under sub. (1m) that
2uses the terms "CE" or "common era," and "BCE" or "before the common era," instead
3of "AD" and "BC," when referring to years.
