SJR34,1,52 Whereas, U.S. Army Specialist John Oliver Tollefson was born September 27,
31982, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and died on Wednesday, July 27, 2005, in Ashraf,
4Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee during patrol;
5and
SJR34,1,86 Whereas, Spc. Tollefson served with honor and distinction for the U.S. Army
7with the 411th Military Police Company, 720th Military Police Battalion, 89th
8Military Police Brigade, stationed near Baghdad, Iraq; and
SJR34,1,109 Whereas, Spc. Tollefson graduated from Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac,
10Wisconsin, in 2001; and
SJR34,1,1211 Whereas, Spc. Tollefson earned his associates degree from the University of
12Wisconsin-Fond du Lac, before enlisting with the military; and
SJR34,1,1413 Whereas, Spc. Tollefson had a passion for hockey, football, music, cars, family,
14and friends; and

1Whereas, Spc. Tollefson was a member of Holy Family Parish and had a love
2for the Lord and was a loving son, brother, friend, uncle, and soldier; and
SJR34,2,43 Whereas, Spc. Tollefson had a natural ability to connect with people and he had
4a beautiful smile that could light up a room; and
SJR34,2,65 Whereas, Spc. Tollefson made the ultimate sacrifice for his country while
6fighting for freedom for the citizens of Iraq; and
SJR34,2,87 Whereas, Spc. Tollefson was honored with the Bronze Star and the Purple
8Heart; and
SJR34,2,119 Whereas, Spc. Tollefson will always be remembered for his commitment to the
10U.S. Army and for the cause of freedom, for his love and devotion to his family and
11friends, and he will never be forgotten; now, therefore, be it
SJR34,2,15 12Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the
13Wisconsin legislature commend the life of U.S. Army Specialist John Oliver Tollefson
14of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, express their sorrow at his death, and extend their
15condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
SJR34,2,21 16Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint
17resolution to Spc. Tollefson's father, Walter Tollefson of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and
18his mother and stepfather, Mary and Dan Steinman of Rosendale, Wisconsin; his
19sisters, Jessica Tollefson of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and Kate Tollefson of Fond du
20Lac, Wisconsin; and his grandmothers, Alice Tollefson of Mishicot, Wisconsin, and
21Delores Kochrosky of Maribel, Wisconsin.
