SJR49,1,43 Whereas, the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) has had a long history in
4Wisconsin dating back to just after the Civil War; and
SJR49,1,65 Whereas, ROTC produces over 60 percent of all officers in the United States
6Armed Forces; and
SJR49,1,87 Whereas, ROTC only accepts the best of the best to become officers in the Armed
8Forces; and
SJR49,1,109 Whereas, the Air Force ROTC mission is "To produce leaders for the Air Force
10and build better citizens for America"; and
SJR49,1,1211 Whereas, the Army ROTC mission is "To commission the future officer
12leadership of the United States Army"; and
SJR49,1,1513 Whereas, the Navy ROTC mission, in part, is "To develop midshipmen
14mentally, morally, and physically and to imbue them with the highest ideals of duty,
15honor and loyalty..."; and

1Whereas, these missions show the depth of character and the values these
2cadets, midshipmen, and officer candidates must possess; and
SJR49,2,53 Whereas, Wisconsin is proud to support and defend the right for cadets,
4midshipmen, and officer candidates to participate in ROTC at public and private
5universities across the state; now, therefore, be it
SJR49,2,8 6Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature of
7Wisconsin hereby recognizes November 10, 2005, and subsequent yearly
8anniversaries thereafter as "Wisconsin ROTC Day."
