SJR68,1,1 1Relating to: the life and service of Captain Stephen Hahn.
SJR68,1,42 Whereas, Captain Stephen Hahn was born on August 2, 1943, in Chicago,
3Illinois, and died on February 16, 2006, following a traffic accident while on duty,
4serving as a special deputy sheriff for Eau Claire County; and
SJR68,1,85 Whereas, Captain Hahn joined the Eau Claire Police Department in 1966, and
6worked his way up through the ranks from animal control to patrol officer to sergeant
7to lieutenant and ended his career with distinction as captain of administrative
8services; and
SJR68,1,119 Whereas, Captain Hahn trained and prepared extensively for his career,
10graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and subsequently from the
11FBI academy in Quantico, Virginia; and
SJR68,1,1412 Whereas, Captain Hahn was devoted to serving his community, but was equally
13devoted to his country, as a military police officer and canine trainer in the United
14States Army; and

1Whereas, Captain Hahn was so dedicated to service that even after retirement
2he continued to serve the community by acting as a transport deputy for the Eau
3Claire County Sheriff's Department; and
SJR68,2,54 Whereas, Captain Hahn was admired by his fellow officers as enthusiastic, a
5hard worker, a great community servant, and an outstanding person; and
SJR68,2,76 Whereas, he was an avid sportsman, participating in outdoor activities such as
7hunting and ice fishing; and
SJR68,2,108 Whereas, Captain Hahn will always be remembered for his devotion to duty, his
9service-oriented lifestyle, and his exemplary record as an officer of the law; now,
10therefore, be it
SJR68,2,14 11Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the
12Wisconsin legislature, on behalf of a grateful state, honor Captain Stephen Hahn for
13his noble service to our city and country and extend their condolences to his family
14and friends; and, be it further
SJR68,2,17 15Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint
16resolution to Captain Hahn's wife, Kathy; son, Jeff; daughter, Stefanie; and to his
17grandsons, Adam, Austin, and Tyler.
