SJR78,1,42 Whereas, Lance Corporal Nicholas Robert Anderson was born November 9,
31984, and died March 13, 2006, as a result of wounds received while on patrol near
4Jalalabad, Afghanistan, during Operation Enduring Freedom; and
SJR78,1,85 Whereas, LCpl Anderson enlisted in the Army National Guard in 2002, and
6joined the Marine Corp in January 2005, serving with distinction and honor with the
7Hawaii-based 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division (III Marine
8Expeditionary Forces); and
SJR78,1,119 Whereas, LCpl Anderson was well known in his community, often seen riding
10his Fat Boy Harley-Davidson motorcycle around town and with his motorcycle
11buddies on their way to Devils Lake, Wisconsin Dells, or the Merrimac Ferry; and
SJR78,1,1512 Whereas, LCpl Anderson worked at McFarlanes', graduated from Sauk Prairie
13High School in 2003, worked for Monona Fire and Sprinkler, was a member of
14Lachmund-Cramer VFW Post 7694, and was a member of Sprinkler Fitters, Local
15Union 669; and

1Whereas, LCpl Anderson in his 2005 Mother's Day card expressed to his mom
2that he loved her very much, and that he was trying to live his life to the fullest and
3make her proud; and
SJR78,2,74 Whereas, LCpl Anderson when very young, wore camouflage, played with toy
5guns, and went with his father and uncles to the rifle range as soon as he was old
6enough, then lived the Corp's values of honor, commitment, and brotherhood and he
7grieved intensely for fellow service members lost and their families; and
SJR78,2,118 Whereas, LCpl Anderson was very close with his family, especially to his older
9sister Jessica and her two children Ethan and Ella who knew of Uncle Nick's arrival
10by the rumble of his Harley and who made many drawings that covered a wall of
11Nick's quarters; and
SJR78,2,1612 Whereas, Lance Corporal Nicholas Anderson was laid to rest Thursday, March
1323, 2006, with 600 people attending the funeral ceremony and hundreds more lining
14the processional route to honor this young man who loved to be a Marine, the
15brotherhood, uniform, and insignia, and who sought to be the best Marine he could
16be and to make his family proud; and
SJR78,2,1817 Whereas, the people of Wisconsin mourn the death of Lance Corporal Anderson;
18now, therefore, be it
SJR78,2,22 19Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature of
20the state of Wisconsin commemorates the remarkable life of Nicholas Robert
21Anderson and extends its deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and colleagues;
22and, be it further
SJR78,3,2 23Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall transmit a copy of this joint
24resolution to Barb Anderson, his mother; Jim and Cindy Anderson, his father and
25stepmother; Jessica Yanke, his sister; Kiersten, Elin, and Kia Carlson, his three

1stepsisters; Aaron Haas, his cousin and best friend; Amanda Kohlman, his special
2friend; and James Schulenberg, friend and classmate.
