SJR81,1,2 1Relating to: the life and military service of Lance Corporal Adam J. VanAlstine of
2the United States Marines who lost his life during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
SJR81,1,73 Whereas, on February 25, 2006, Lance Corporal Adam J. VanAlstine of
4Superior, Wisconsin, a member of the 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Division, I Marine
5Expeditionary Force which was attached to the 2nd Marine Division, II Marine
6Expeditionary Force as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, died as a result of wounds
7received from an improvised explosive device in Ar Ramadi, Iraq; and
SJR81,1,118 Whereas, Lance Corporal VanAlstine was 21 years old, born on November 2,
91984, and will be remembered as a dedicated soldier who had wanted to join the
10marines since he was a little boy and was living out his dream of serving our country;
11and
SJR81,1,1412 Whereas, Lance Corporal VanAlstine will be remembered as a caring and
13devoted brother to his siblings, a loving uncle to his siblings' children, and a
14passionate soldier defending our nation for generations yet to come; and

1Whereas, Lance Corporal VanAlstine fervently loved to box and is remembered
2fondly by his boxing instructors and classmates who knew him as an enthusiastic
3boxer since the age of 13 when he first started competing in the 106-pound weight
4class; and
SJR81,2,85 Whereas, Lance Corporal VanAlstine faced challenges throughout his life
6which he was able to overcome through hard work, discipline, and a strong will and
7demonstrated incredible depth of character through his perseverance to make a
8better life for himself and a better world for fellow Americans; and
SJR81,2,109 Whereas, Lance Corporal Adam VanAlstine was laid to rest on March 6, 2006;
10now, therefore, be it
SJR81,2,14 11Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature of
12the state of Wisconsin commemorates the life of Lance Corporal Adam J. VanAlstine
13and extends its sympathies and its deepest gratitude to his family, friends, and
14colleagues; and, be it further
SJR81,2,17 15Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall transmit a copy of this joint
16resolution to Lance Corporal VanAlstine's sisters, Julie Goodell, Jennifer
17VanAlstine, and Dawn Meyers, and to his brother, Michael Garrity.
