2007 - 2008 LEGISLATURE
February 13, 2008 - Introduced by Representatives Kreuser, Bies, Sherman,
Sheridan, Grigsby, Berceau, Hahn
and Gunderson. Referred to Committee on
Corrections and Courts.
AB802,1,2 1An Act to amend 814.67 (1) (c) of the statutes; relating to: payment to
2witnesses and interpreters for mileage expenses.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Currently, a witness or interpreter attending a court hearing is entitled to fee
for his or her travel at the rate of 20 cents per mile. This bill would change that rate
to 46.5 cents per mile, which is the same rate paid to state employees under the state
compensation plan for 2007-09.
For further information see the state and local fiscal estimate, which will be
printed as an appendix to this bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB802, s. 1 3Section 1. 814.67 (1) (c) of the statutes is amended to read:
AB802,1,74 814.67 (1) (c) For traveling, at the rate of 20 46.5 cents per mile going and
5returning from his or her residence if within the state; or, if without the state, from
6the point where he or she crosses the state boundary to the place of attendance, and
7returning by the usually traveled route between such points.
