AB842,1,2 1An Act to renumber and amend 454.10 (3) of the statutes; relating to:
2supervision of barber or cosmetologist apprentices.

Under current law, a person may learn barbering or cosmetology through an
apprenticeship. No apprentice may practice barbering or cosmetology except under
the supervision of a licensed manager. This bill permits a licensed manager to
delegate supervisory authority over an apprentice to a licensed barber or
cosmetologist who has completed at least 2,000 hours of practice as a licensed barber
or cosmetologist.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

4to read:
AB842,2,45 454.10 (3) (a) No apprentice may practice barbering or cosmetology except
6under the supervision of a licensed manager or under the supervision of a licensed

1barber or cosmetologist to whom supervisory authority has been delegated by a
2licensed manager. A licensed manager may only delegate supervisory authority to
3a licensed barber or cosmetologist who has completed at least 2,000 hours of practice
4as a licensed barber or cosmetologist
.
AB842,2,7 5(b) Apprentices shall be trained in all branches of practical work and in all
6subjects required to be taught in schools of barbering or cosmetology as prescribed
7by the examining board by rule.
