AB385,1,3 1An Act to amend 16.82 (title); and to create 16.82 (8) of the statutes; relating
2to:
access to telephone numbers of state agencies and authorities on the
3Internet.

This bill directs the Department of Administration to ensure that each state
agency and authority that maintains a site on the Internet includes on the home page
of that site at least one telephone number clearly shown in bold type at which the
agency or authority may be contacted for general information, as well as a link that
enables a visitor to the site to access the telephone numbers for other functional
subunits of the agency or authority and the telephone number of each officer and
employee of the agency or authority who is assigned to a work station equipped with
a telephone, unless the agency or authority can demonstrate that the public interest
requires that the name and telephone number of an employee be withheld from
disclosure.
Currently, there is no similar requirement.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

1Section 1. 16.82 (title) of the statutes is amended to read:

AB385, s. 2 3Section 2. 16.82 (8) of the statutes is created to read:
AB385,2,134 16.82 (8) Shall ensure that each agency and authority, as defined in s. 16.70,
5that maintains a site on the Internet includes on the home page of that site at least
6one telephone number clearly shown in bold type at which the agency or authority
7may be contacted for general information as well as a link that enables a visitor to
8the site to access any telephone number for a functional subunit of the agency or
9authority that is not shown on the home page and the telephone number of each
10officer and employee of the agency and authority who is assigned to a work station
11equipped with a telephone, unless the agency or authority can demonstrate that the
12public interest requires that the name or telephone number of an employee be
13withheld from disclosure.

AB385,2,1615 (1) This act takes effect on the first day of the 3rd month beginning after
16publication.
