AJR12,1,2 Relating to: renaming the decorated tree on display in the capitol rotunda during the Christmas holiday season as the Wisconsin State Christmas Tree.

AJR12,1,5 Whereas, the state of Wisconsin respects all religious and cultural customs and is desirous of properly naming the publicly displayed symbols of our state's diverse holiday traditions out of respect for all traditions; and

AJR12,1,9 Whereas, the decorated tree that has been on display in the capitol rotunda annually during the Christmas holiday season since 1916 was known as a "Christmas tree" until 1985, when state officials began referring to that tree as a "holiday tree"; and

AJR12,1,13 Whereas, the Wisconsin legislature wishes to return to this tradition and join numerous other states and public institutions and millions of American families in celebrating the Christmas holiday season with a Christmas tree; now, therefore, be it

AJR12,2,3 Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the decorated tree annually displayed in the capitol rotunda during the Christmas holiday season shall be known as the "State of Wisconsin Christmas Tree."
