SB602,1,3 1An Act to create 134.725 of the statutes; relating to: causing a caller
2identification service to transmit misleading or inaccurate caller identification
3information and providing a penalty.

This bill prohibits a person from causing a caller identification service to
transmit misleading or inaccurate caller identification information, if the person
acts with the intent to defraud, cause harm, or wrongfully obtain anything of value.
The bill exempts the official activities of law enforcement or regulatory agents.
Under the bill, the prohibition is enforced by a district attorney. A person who
violates the prohibition is subject to a forfeiture of $1,000 to $10,000 for each
violation.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB602, s. 1 4Section 1. 134.725 of the statutes is created to read:
SB602,2,3 5134.725 Caller identification information. (1) No person may, with the
6intent to defraud, cause harm, or wrongfully obtain anything of value, knowingly

1cause a caller identification service to transmit misleading or inaccurate caller
2identification information. This section does not apply to the official activity of a law
3enforcement or governmental regulatory agent.
SB602,2,5 4(2) A person who violates this section may be required to forfeit not less than
5$1,000 nor more than $10,000 for each violation.
