SJR50,1,63 Whereas, Staff Sgt. Jeremy D. Vrooman was born on February 27, 1980, in
4Sioux Falls, South Dakota, loved spending time in his adult years with his father and
5stepmother in Superior, Wisconsin, and died on July 15, 2008, from enemy action in
6Kn'an, Diyala Province, Iraq; and
SJR50,1,77 Whereas, Staff Sgt. Vrooman enlisted in the U.S. Army in December, 1999; and
SJR50,1,108 Whereas, Staff Sgt. Vrooman served with distinction in the 4th Squadron, 2nd
9Stryker Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored
10Division, Vilsek, Germany as a staff sergeant in his second tour of duty in Iraq; and
SJR50,1,1311 Whereas, Staff Sgt. Vrooman's family and fellow citizens are very proud of him
12and know that he died doing what he truly lived to do: serve his nation and fight for
13our freedom; and

1Whereas, Staff Sgt. Vrooman was awarded for his valor and leadership,
2receiving high honors at his funeral, and was presented with a Purple Heart and
3Bronze Star for the lives he saved while sacrificing his own; and
SJR50,2,64 Whereas, Staff Sgt. Vrooman embodied the Army's core values of Loyalty, Duty,
5Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage, and he is sorely
6missed; now, therefore, be it
SJR50,2,10 7Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature of
8the state of Wisconsin commemorates the remarkable life of Staff Sgt. Jeremy D.
9Vrooman and extends its deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and colleagues;
10and, be it further
SJR50,2,12 11Be it further resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall transmit a copy of this
12joint resolution to his father and stepmother Bruce and Sue Vrooman.
