2Dodgers high school boys basketball state championship.
AJR96,1,43 Whereas, the 1964 Dodgers competed with more than four hundred other
4schools across the state for a spot in the final championship; and
AJR96,1,75 Whereas, the team of young men from the small-town school of only four
6hundred students competed in a bracket against schools with as many as 1,800
7students; and
AJR96,1,108 Whereas, the Dodgers, through a combination of hard work, dedication, and
9commitment, finished their season at 26-0 on March 21, 1964, with a win over
10Milwaukee North, 59-45; and
AJR96,1,1311 Whereas, Dodgeville coach John "Weenie" Wilson built a team of small-town,
12dedicated kids, and coached them to unprecedented success and state and national
13prominence; and

1Whereas, after the Dodgers won the state championship, cars, trucks, and more
2than three thousand people lined the streets of small-town Dodgeville to welcome
3the team home; and
AJR96,2,64 Whereas, the 1964 Dodgers high school basketball team, composed of Pat
5Flynn, Bruce Harrison, Rick Brown, Bob Rock, and Corky Evans, will always have
6a special place in the history of Dodgeville and our state; now, therefore, be it
AJR96,2,9 7Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the Wisconsin
8legislature commemorates the fiftieth anniversary of the Dodgeville Dodgers high
9school basketball championship; and, be it further
AJR96,2,11 10Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this resolution
11to Dodgeville High School.
