AB919,1,3 An Act to create 165.25 (10g) of the statutes; relating to: requiring the Department of Justice to provide information to the Joint Committee on Finance relating to civil litigation.

This bill requires the Department of Justice to annually provide the Joint Committee on Finance with an accounting of expenses related to civil litigation undertaken by the department in the preceding year.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

AB919,1 Section 1. 165.25 (10g) of the statutes is created to read:

AB919,2,2 165.25 (10g) Report on civil litigation expenses. Beginning on March 1, 2017, and annually thereafter, the department of justice shall submit to the joint committee on finance a report that contains an accounting of expenses related to civil litigation undertaken by the department in the preceding year. The report shall identify each civil matter litigated by the department, expenses related thereto, staff hours expended on the matter and costs associated with the staff hours, and the status of each civil matter at the time the report is prepared.
