SJR101,1,32 Whereas, persons aged 65 or older make up nearly 16 percent of the total U.S.
3population and have witnessed great progress in the state of our nation; and
SJR101,1,64 Whereas, these 20 million Americans have lived rich and fulfilling lives, with
5experiences they can share with the next generations of leaders, innovators, and
6citizens; and
SJR101,1,97 Whereas, life can be just as rich and fulfilling as Americans age; we can
8encourage healthy behaviors and activities through shared interactions and
9learning opportunities; and
SJR101,1,1210 Whereas, it is never too late to improve one's life, and adults can always find
11new hobbies and opportunities to become more positive and stay connected in this
12new and fast-paced world; and
SJR101,1,1513 Whereas, it is in the public interest to have a strong, active, and engaged
14populace, and measures to promote the well-being of older Americans is of vital
15importance; and

1Whereas, the legislature has an opportunity to support these older persons
2through awareness and recognition of the positive aspects of aging; and
SJR101,2,63 Whereas, for over two decades, national organizations have celebrated Healthy
4Aging Month, encouraging healthful behaviors and providing a national community
5to advocate for the special needs and issues that affect older persons; now, therefore,

8hereby proclaims September 2016 as Healthy Aging Month in Wisconsin.
