2celebrating the recreation and conservation benefits to our state and nation.
SJR106,1,43 Whereas, President Woodrow Wilson signed the National Park Service Organic
4Act into law on August 25, 1916; and
SJR106,1,75 Whereas, for the past century the National Park Service has been entrusted
6with preserving natural and cultural resources for the enjoyment, education, and
7inspiration of generations; and
SJR106,1,108 Whereas, Wisconsin is home to the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, the Ice
9Age National Scenic Trail, and tributaries and portions of the St. Croix National
10Scenic Riverway and is a vital leg of the North Country Scenic Trail; and
SJR106,1,1511 Whereas, the National Park Service complements Wisconsin's unique
12attractions, recreational activities, and cultural landscapes to help make this state
13a premier tourist destination, with the National Park Service seeing over 625,000
14visits in Wisconsin that generate more than $58 million in spending and support over
15900 jobs in the state; and

1Whereas, Wisconsin is home to 42 National Historic Landmarks designated by
2the National Park Service and over 2,000 listed sites on the National Register of
3Historic Places; and
SJR106,2,64 Whereas, Wisconsin's unique geography and role in the nation's natural, social,
5and political history have been effectively highlighted by the National Park Service;
6and
SJR106,2,87 Whereas, the National Park Service makes wild lands and magnificent
8features in our state, especially in the North, known and accessible; and
SJR106,2,109 Whereas, 2016 marks the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service
10Organic Act; now, therefore, be it
SJR106,2,13 11Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the Wisconsin
12legislature congratulates the National Park Service on its centennial and celebrates
13the recreation and conservation benefits to our state and nation.
