2pumps and providing a penalty.

This bill requires sellers of motor vehicle fuel to place locks on each pump
capable of reading a credit or debit card. The locks must be unique to the property
on which the pumps are located; a key capable of opening a lock on one property may
not be capable of opening a lock on another property. A person who violates this
requirement is subject to a forfeiture of up to $200.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB693,1 3Section 1. 100.62 of the statutes is created to read:
SB693,2,3 4100.62 Locks required for fuel pumps. (1) Locks required. Any person
5who sells or distributes motor vehicle fuel in this state and who dispenses that fuel
6from a pump capable of reading a credit or debit card shall ensure that each pump
7is locked to prevent access to the pump's internal card-reading mechanism. Locks

1used on pumps must be unique to the property on which the pumps are located and
2a key capable of opening a lock on one property may not be capable of opening a lock
3on another property.
SB693,2,5 4(2) Penalty. A person who violates sub. (1) is subject to a forfeiture of no more
5than $200.

SB693,2,77 (1) This act takes effect on the 90th day after the day of publication.
