President Rude recognized the presence of Lieutenant Governor Scott McCallum, State Treasurer Jack Voight, Deputy State Superintendent of Public Instruction Robert Gomoll, Congressman Thomas Barrett and his wife, and members of the Wisconsin State Supreme Court: Chief Justice Roland Day, and Justices Shirley Abrahamson, Jon Wilcox, William Bablitch and Janine Geske.

Representative Hanson asked unanimous consent that the Assembly adjourn in honor of the University of Wisconsin's Women's Basketball team who won two important Big Ten games during this past weekend. They beat Purdue on Friday evening in double overtime, 98-95, and also won their game against Penn State on Sunday, 87-69 in front of 10,500 fans. On Monday, they also earned the honor of being ranked as the 10th best team in the nation, the first team in UW Women's Basketball history to be ranked in the top 10. Granted.
