Legislative Audit Bureau
Madison

To the Honorable, the Assembly:
We have completed a financial and compliance audit of the University of Wisconsin System as required by s. 13.94, Wis. Stats. and as requested by the University of Wisconsin System Administration to meet the audit requirements of federal Office of Management and Budget Circular A-133. Our audit covered the period July 1, 1993 through June 30, 1995.
Our compliance report (96-12) contains the independent auditor's reports on the internal control structure and on compliance. It also identifies our concerns with controls, instances of noncompliance with federal requirements, and questioned costs totaling $303,617. A separate financial report (96-13) contains the University of Wisconsin System financial statements and supplementary schedule of federal awards, and our reports on the statements and schedule for the audited period.
Our reports are lengthy and detailed. We are, therefore, limiting our initial distribution to those required by law to receive copies and to those who have an obvious and direct interest in our detailed findings. However, if you are interested in receiving copies of these reports, please contact our office and request reports 96-12 and 96-13.
Sincerely,
Dale Cattanach
State Auditor
