As the Statewide Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Director, I am pleased to present you with a report of the State's EAP activity for July 1, 1993, through June 30, 1994. This is the first Statewide EAP report incorporating program utilization from all State agencies and the University of Wisconsin System. We serviced approximately 3,000 employes during this time period with the goal of improving employe well-being and productivity.
The State's EAP is defined as a confidential worksite program designed to assist in prevention, identification and resolution of behavioral, medical and productivity problems associated with employes impaired by personal concerns. These include, but are not limited to: health, marital, family, financial, alcohol, drug, legal, emotional, stress,or other personal problems which may adversely affect job performance. Services provided by the EAP are:
* consultation and training to supervisors and managers
* confidential and timely problem assessments
* referrals for diagnosis, treatment and assistance
* follow-up with employes who use those services
* prevention and wellness education for employes

Annual Report on Family Practice
* A summary of the finances of the Department of Family Medicine for 1993-94
* A summary of the practice locations for the 1993 and the 1994 graduates of the residency program in Family Medicine.
In addition, Act 39 requires a report on the number of graduates entering family practice as a career. Of the students graduating from the UW Medical School in December, 1992, May 1993, and August 1993, a total of 27 entered residencies in family medicine. Of the students graduating in December, 1993, May, 1994 and August, 1994, a total of 34 entered residencies in family medicine. We cannot know with certainty that all of these students will enter family practice as a career, but they have at least set off in that direction.
