April 8, 1995 - Introduced by Representatives Handrick, Ladwig, Grothman,
Musser, Otte, Owens, Silbaugh, Skindrud, Jensen, Albers and Walker.
Referred to Committee on Education.
AB309,1,2
1An Act to repeal 115.38 and 121.02 (1) (o); and
to amend 119.04 (1) of the
2statutes;
relating to: school district performance reports.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, annually each school board must distribute to the parent or
guardian of each pupil enrolled in the school district a school and school district
performance report. The report must include indicators of pupil achievement and
of school and school district performance, including dropout, attendance, retention
in grade and graduation rates; number of suspensions and expulsions; and
percentage of habitual truants. The state superintendent of public instruction must
publish and distribute to the legislature a summary of the reports. He or she must
also identify those school districts that are low in performance and make
recommendations regarding how the identified school districts may be improved.
This bill eliminates all of the above requirements.
For further information see the state and local fiscal estimate, which will be
printed as an appendix to this bill.
