relating to: motor
3vehicle maximum speed limits.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, no person may drive a motor vehicle faster than the
maximum speed limit provided by law. Current law provides for a maximum speed
limit of 65 miles per hour on any freeway for which federal law provides for a
maximum speed limit of 65 miles per hour, and a maximum speed limit of 55 miles
per hour unless a different speed limit is provided by law and posted by official signs.
This bill raises the maximum speed limit on certain freeways and expressways to 65
miles per hour.
For further information see the state and local fiscal estimate, which will be
printed as an appendix to this bill.
