1997 Assembly Joint Resolution 96
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and public service of Thomas Murray.
Whereas, Thomas Murray was born on May 12, 1938, in Superior and died on January 6, 1998, in Duluth, Minnesota; and
Whereas, he graduated from Superior Central High School in 1957 and earned a degree in criminal science from the University of Wisconsin-Superior; and
Whereas, Mr. Murray served in the U.S. Army, was employed by the Superior Police Department from 1960 to 1968 and was a Douglas County deputy sheriff from 1968 to 1972; and
Whereas, he was elected to the assembly in 1972 and was reelected 4 times; and
Whereas, during his tenure in the assembly Mr. Murray rose to the position of chair of the transportation committee; and
Whereas, he was a member of the Wisconsin Deputy Sheriff's Association and the Wisconsin Professional Patrolman's Association; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature commend Thomas Murray's many years of devoted public service, express their grief at his death and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint resolution to Mr. Murray's son, Thomas, and his daughter, Shawn.
