was elected to the office of
Representative to the Assembly
from the Eighty-second Assembly District of the State of Wisconsin, for the unexpired term of two years, commencing on January 6, 1997, and ending on January 4, 1999, to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of James A. Rutkowski, as shown on the official canvass of the votes cast at the Special Election held on April 7, 1998.

I, David Halbrooks, Chairperson of the State Elections Board, certify that the attached tabular statement, as compiled from the certified returns made to the State Elections Board by the several county clerks in the Eighty-second Assembly District, contains a correct abstract of the total number of votes given for the election of candidates for Representative to the Assembly, District 82, at a Special Election held in the several wards and election districts in said counties on the Seventh day of April, 1998.
I DO, THEREFORE, DETERMINE AND CERTIFY that the following candidate, having received the greatest number of votes, is duly elected Representative to the Assembly:

Oath of Office
On April 15, 1998, Speaker Jensen administered the oath of office to Jeff Stone of the Eighty-second Assembly District in the city of Greenfield. Today, the swearing in ceremony was repeated during session in the Assembly Chamber. After the swearing in ceremony, Representative Stone addressed the members from the rostrum.
