The Elections Board administers the state's election and campaign laws, investigates alleged violations of those laws and brings civil actions to collect forfeitures. Your appointment will be for two years commencing May 1, 2001 and you will replace Mr. Gregory J. Paradise on the board in accordance with §
15.61 (Wis. Stats.) and Assembly Rule
3 (j).

To the Honorable, the Assembly:
Pursuant to Section
50.04(5)(fr), Wis. Stats., effective June 17, 1998, the Department is required to submit an annual report to the Legislature related to Class A violations committed by nursing homes (including facilities for the developmentally disabled) and forfeitures assessed on nursing homes for those violations.
The Department issued 26 Class A violations to nursing homes between June 17, 2000 and May 21, 2001. The attached chart details these Class A violations, including their original forfeiture amount assessed and the status of the payment.
There are several violations that have not yet been assessed forfeitures. The Department's two forfeiture positions were vacant for approximately four months. The positions have both been filled, and the new staff have completed training and are currently working on the backlog of Class A violations.
