Referral of Agency Reports
State of Wisconsin
Department of Corrections
Madison
March 20, 2002
To the Honorable, the Assembly:
The Department of Corrections is pleased to provide you with its recently completed "Report to the Legislature" about the department's Pharmacological Treatment Program for Serious Child Sex Offenders. The report contains significant information about the history, development and implementation of the program.
As the report explains, the Department of Corrections encountered a number of unanticipated and complex challenges in designing and implementing this important program. Despite these significant challenges, the department has succeeded in its efforts, and the impact of the program thus far has been positive. As you will note, funding and legislative support of this and other community protection initiatives undertaken by the Department of Corrections can contribute greatly to the safety and high quality of life enjoyed by Wisconsin's citizens. We look forward to continued success in this and other innovative correctional programs.
Sincerely,
Jon E. Litscher
Secretary
Referred to committee on Criminal Justice.
