AJR72,1,2 Relating to: the life and military service of United States Army Staff Sergeant Warren Scott Hansen.

AJR72,1,7 Whereas, United States Army Staff Sergeant Warren Scott Hansen was born on May 2, 1967, at the United States Army Hospital in Heidelberg, Germany, and died on November 15, 2003, in Mosul, Iraq, as the helicopter that he served on as crew chief collided with another helicopter as they attempted to aid American soldiers; and

AJR72,1,10 Whereas, Staff Sergeant Hansen demonstrated courage at the young age of 15 by rescuing a person who had fallen through the ice on Grass Lake near Clintonville; and

AJR72,1,12 Whereas, Staff Sergeant Hansen graduated from Clintonville High School in 1986 and joined in the family tradition of serving our nation; and

AJR72,1,15 Whereas, Staff Sergeant Hansen spent the next 17 years working with UH-1A Huey and UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters and eventually served in Operation Desert Storm, South Korea, Germany, Bosnia, Egypt, and Operation Iraqi Freedom; and

AJR72,2,3 Whereas, Staff Sergeant Hansen continued to contribute to the Clintonville community during his military career through his involvement with Saint Martin Lutheran Church and VFW Post 664; and

AJR72,2,5 Whereas, Staff Sergeant Hansen enjoyed spending time in the outdoors and loved to golf, hunt deer, ice fish, and water ski; and

AJR72,2,7 Whereas, Staff Sergeant Hansen made the ultimate sacrifice for his country, while advancing the cause of freedom for the Iraqi people; and

AJR72,2,9 Whereas, Staff Sergeant Hansen will always be remembered for his loyalty and duty and will never be forgotten; now, therefore, be it

AJR72,2,13 Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature commend the life of United States Army Staff Sergeant Warren Scott Hansen, express their sorrow at his death, and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further

AJR72,2,17 Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint resolution to Staff Sergeant Hansen's mother and stepfather, Beth and Jim Karlson of Clintonville; to his brothers, Matthew Hansen of Santa Ana, California, and Peter Karlson of Clintonville; and to his niece, Leah Karlson, of Clintonville.
