1An Act to amend 38.04 (4) (am); and
to create 38.21 of the statutes;
relating
2to: program application standards for, and the curricula of, health occupation
3programs offered by technical colleges.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

(4) (am)
The Except as provided in s. 38.21 (1) (a), the board shall not
6consider any course of study for approval under par. (a) that has not first been
7approved by the district board.

938.21 Health care occupations. (1) By the first day of the 60th month
10beginning after the effective date of this subsection .... [revisor inserts date], the
11board, in cooperation with the district boards, shall do all of the following:

1(a) Develop a curriculum for each health occupation program offered by the
2districts and ensure that each district board adopts it.

(b) Establish program application standards relating to testing, skill
4requirements, academic course requirements, certification requirements, and
5physical examinations, if any, that are applicable to each health occupation program
6offered by the districts.

7(2) By the first day of the 30th month beginning after the effective date of this
8subsection .... [revisor inserts date], the board shall report to the legislature on the
9progress made to develop curricula and establish program application standards
10under sub. (1).

11(3) By the first day of the 61st month beginning after the effective date of this
12subsection .... [revisor inserts date], the board shall report to the legislature any
13district board that has not adopted the required curricula or program application
14standards under sub. (1).

(1) The technical college system board shall report to the legislature on issues
17affecting the technical college system board's efforts to address the statewide
18shortage of health care workers by the first day of the 9th month beginning after the
19effective date of this subsection.
