Senator Wirch, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of St. Joseph High School senior Zach McFall, who won his second WIAA Division 3 State Cross Country Meet championship with a 5,000 meter time of 16 minutes, 26 seconds, on Saturday, October 29, 2005.
Senator Lazich, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of the Greendale High School Marching Band under the direction of Tom Reifenberg for earning the 2005 Class AA Wisconsin School Music Association High School Band Championship, and earning awards for best musical presentation, best visual presentation, and best percussion.
Senator Jauch, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of the faculty, administrators, students, and parents in the Butternut School District, which recently was honored as a national Blue Ribbon School. This prestigious national award recognizes schools that have met rigorous federal standards. This award follows their recent recognition as a Wisconsin New School of Promise, which honors schools that have achieved a high level of success in spite of fiscal challenges and a high population of low income students.
Senator Jauch, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of the Butternut 8th graders who attended the Eighth Grade Day at the Capitol. Jamie Lynch, Jess Meier, Devon Furtak, Beth Michalski, Candy Darnell, Britney Case, Logan Lille, Nick Glaeser, Alyis Herbst, and Dan Hill, along with their two chaperones, Jim Babler and Maxine Kleinsteiber, came to Madison to see the world of state government firsthand and to meet with officials from the legislative, judicial, and executive branches of the State of Wisconsin.
Senator Kedzie, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of his grandmother Peggy Bemowski's 94th birthday.
Senator Robson, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of the students from Whitewater who attended the 8th grade day at the Capitol. These students got to spend the day learning about state government. Senator Robson hopes they were inspired to become active participants in democracy, and that some of them will choose to run for an office some day.
Senator Hansen, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of his mother, Clare Hansen, as she celebrates her 90th birthday on Thursday, November 3.
Senator Hansen, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of his wife Jane on the occasion of their 34th wedding anniversary Sunday, November 6th.
Senator Taylor, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of the MATC political science students at the Capitol for Student's Day to learn about state government.
Senator Schultz, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Donovan Nelson of Boscobel, who passed away recently. Donovan was a pioneer in the cable industry and a small businessman who cast an enormous shadow over the region when it came to helping young entrepreneurs by personally providing funds when banks would not. He encouraged many others and gave to many charitable causes. Donovan was a good friend and someone who was deeply loved and revered in his community. He will be missed.
Senator Lasee, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Harold J. Reckelberg who was born in Montpelier on March 29, 1927, and died in Luxemburg on October 26, 2005, at the age of 78, due to a tragic farming accident. Harold believed in service to his community, where he served as the District Clerk of the McKinley School District, supervisor for the Town of Luxemberg, and then chairman for the Town of Luxemberg, as well as chairman of the Luxemberg Community Fire & Rescue Association. He was appointed to the Kewaunee County Board, elected chairman of the County Board, and served as chairman of the Wisconsin Counties Association. He was a wonderful man and he will be missed greatly.
