SENATE AMENDMENT 5, TO 2007 ASSEMBLY BILL 207

AB207-SA5,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the engrossed bill as follows:

AB207-SA5,1,3 1. Page 2, line 5: delete "and granting rule-making authority" and substitute ", granting rule-making authority, and making an appropriation".

AB207-SA5,1,4 2. Page 2, line 11: after that line insert:

AB207-SA5,1,5 " Section 1m. 20.144 (3) of the statutes is created to read:

AB207-SA5,1,8 20.144 (3) High-speed internet access program. (g) Grants. All moneys received under s. 66.0420 (7m) (a) for the purpose of making grants under s. 66.0420 (7m) (b).".

AB207-SA5,1,9 3. Page 25, line 14: after that line insert:

AB207-SA5,2,2 "(7m) High-speed Internet access grants. (a) Each video service provider and interim cable operator shall impose a monthly surcharge of 5 cents on the amounts billed to each subscriber of the video service provider's or interim cable operator's video service. A video service provider or interim cable operator shall pay the surcharges to the department. This paragraph does not apply after December 31, 2012.

AB207-SA5,2,6 (b) The department shall use the surcharges paid under par. (a) to make grants to persons to assist in the deployment of high-speed Internet access service to underserved areas in this state. The department shall promulgate rules establishing requirements and procedures for collecting the surcharges and making the grants.".
