SENATE SUBSTITUTE AMENDMENT 1,
TO 2007 SENATE BILL 50
April 13, 2007 - Offered by Senator Kreitlow.
SB50-SSA1,1,21An Act to create 109.03 (1) (e) of the statutes; relating to: the frequency of wage 2payments to volunteer fire fighters and emergency medical technicians.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Current law generally requires an employer to pay an employee his or her wages by no later than 31 days after the date on which the wages are earned. Current law, however, provides exceptions for employees engaged in logging or farm labor, employees covered by a collective bargaining agreement establishing a different payment frequency, school district and private school employees who request payment over a 12-month period for services performed during the school year, and employees who receive compensatory time off in lieu of overtime compensation. This bill creates another exception for volunteer fire fighters or volunteer emergency medical technicians who by agreement with their employers are paid semiannually or annually.
