1An Act to amend 941.295 (2) (c) of the statutes;
relating to: possession of an
2electric weapon.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Current law prohibits selling, transporting, manufacturing, possessing, or
going armed with an electric weapon, which is a device that is designed, redesigned,
used, or intended to be used to immobilize or incapacitate persons by the use of
electric current. This prohibition does not apply to peace officers, on-duty armed
forces or national guard personnel, on-duty corrections personnel employed by the
Department of Corrections, manufacturers or sellers who provide electric weapons
exclusively to those persons, or common carriers transporting electric weapons.
This bill makes the prohibition regarding electric weapons inapplicable to
on-duty county corrections personnel.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
