Announcements, Adjournment Honors, and Remarks Under Special Privilege
Senator Wirch, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of ULine Corporation.
Senator Lazich, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Rich Kuchenbecker. Rich began employment with the Village of East Troy Police Department during January 1974, and served as patrolman, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Deputy Chief prior to retirement. He served the community in numerous positions including Chairman of the Walworth County Housing Authority since 1987, assisting in the establishment of Twin Oaks homeless shelter, and serving as County Board Liaison, Secretary, and Treasurer for the Walworth County Crime Stoppers Board.
Senator Taylor, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of her colleagues and staff members on the Senate Select Committee on Clean Energy. Yesterday, the Senator from the 7th and the Senator from the 16th chaired the second hearing of the committee, for over 9 hours, as they worked on the Clean Energy Jobs Act. Not only did the co-chairs stay for 9 hours, their staffs did as well. The Senator hopes that we would honor committee clerks Summer Shannon-Bradley and Beth Beir, and Legislative Council staff John Stolzenberg and David Lovell. In addition, we must honor the sergeant staff person, Dan Hansfield, who stayed through the course of that hearing. As this committee works through one of the largest and most important bills of this session, second only to the budget, Senator Taylor hopes that we would adjourn in their honor.
Senator Grothman, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Tim McKee, whose bill, Senate Bill 303, was passed today in this body.
Senator Lassa, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Danielle Wilson, Jamie Kuhn, and Liz Stephens for their work in the legislature, for the people of Wisconsin.
Senator Schultz, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of the ideal legislative staff person, Eileen Generose O'Neill Schoenfeldt. Eileen has been a wonderful friend and servant to the people of southwest Wisconsin for a decade, starting as an intern in the Senator's office while she was a student at UW Madison. Eileen has been the most productive and organized staff person any legislator could ever hope to have on his or her team. Eileen and her husband Jeff Schoenfeldt are embarking on a year of traveling all seven continents. We can follow them vicariously through their regular entries on their travel website, www.itsasmallworld.me. The people of southwest Wisconsin, her coworkers, and Senator Schultz will miss Eileen very much. Please join the Senator in giving Eileen and Jeff our best wishes in all their coming adventures.
Senator Sullivan, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of the great economic news for Wisconsin because of the passage Senate Bill 440 today, and also a great business constituent of Senator Sullivan, Quad Graphics, will be going public soon.
Senator Kapanke, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in memory of Ben Larson, a 25 year-old LaCrosse area seminary student, who was doing missionary work in Haiti with his wife and cousin when the earthquake hit. He was loved by so many and will be missed.
