AB29,1,2 1An Act to create 100.58 of the statutes; relating to: the sale of consumer goods
2containing radio frequency identification tags.

This bill prohibits the knowing sale, to a purchaser in this state, of consumer
goods or certain farm products that contain a radio frequency identification tag,
unless the person renders the radio frequency identification tag inoperable before
the purchaser takes possession of the goods or products.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB29, s. 1 3Section 1. 100.58 of the statutes is created to read:
AB29,1,5 4100.58 Consumer and farm goods; radio frequency identification tags.
5(1) In this section:
AB29,1,66 (a) "Goods" includes all of the following:
AB29,1,77 1. Consumer goods, as defined in s. 409.102 (1) (fm).
AB29,1,88 2. Farm products, as defined in s. 409.102 (1) (ig).

1(b) "Radio frequency identification tag" means a device encoded with a unique
2serial number that receives or transmits a signal over radio waves.
AB29,2,5 3(2) No person may knowingly sell to a purchaser in this state goods that contain
4a radio frequency identification tag, unless the person renders the radio frequency
5identification tag inoperable before the purchaser takes possession of the goods.
