1An Act relating to: disaster assistance and making an appropriation.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
Joint Legislative Council prefatory note: This bill was prepared for the Joint
Legislative Council's Special Committee on Emergency Management and Continuity of
Government. The bill provides $1 million in general purpose revenue (GPR) in each fiscal
year of the 2009-11 biennium for the state disaster assistance program. The program
provides payments to local governments for a portion of damages and costs incurred in
a major catastrophe if federal disaster assistance is not available.

Disaster assistance. In the schedule under section 20.005 (3) of the statutes
4for the appropriation to the department of military affairs under section 20.465 (3)
5(b) of the statutes, as affected by the acts of 2009, the dollar amount is increased by
1$1,000,000 for the first fiscal year of the fiscal biennium in which this subsection
2takes effect for the purpose for which the appropriation is made. In the schedule
3under section 20.005 (3) of the statutes for the appropriation to the department of
4military affairs under section 20.465 (3) (b) of the statutes, as affected by the acts of
52009, the dollar amount is increased by $1,000,000 for the second fiscal year of the
6fiscal biennium in which this subsection takes effect for the purpose for which the
7appropriation is made.

(1) This act takes effect on the day after publication, or on the 2nd day after
10publication of the 2009-11 biennial budget act, whichever is later.
