(1) This state assents to the provisions of
16 USC 669 to
669i 669k and
9777 to
777L. The department is authorized and directed to perform any acts
10necessary to establish cooperative wildlife restoration projects and cooperative fish
11restoration and management projects in compliance with these federal provisions
12and with regulations promulgated by the secretary of the interior. No funds accruing
13to this state from license fees paid by hunters and from sport and recreation fishing
1license fees may be diverted for any other purpose than the administration of the
2department when it is exercising its responsibilities that are specific to the
3management of the fish and wildlife resources of this state.

(2) The department may not expend funds from the appropriation under
6s. 20.370 (1) (my) that were provided to the department under
16 USC 669 to
669k 7or
777 to
777L for a project or activity, the cost of which exceeds $20,000, unless the
8department first notifies the joint committee on finance in writing of the project or
9activity for which the department proposes to expend the funds. If the
10cochairpersons of the joint committee on finance do not notify the department within
117 working days after the date on which the department notifies the committee of the
12proposal that the committee has scheduled a meeting to review the proposal, the
13project or activity may be implemented and funds may be expended as proposed by
14the department. If, within 7 working days after the date on which the department
15notifies the committee of the proposal, the cochairpersons of the committee notify the
16department that the committee has scheduled a meeting to review the proposal,
17funds may be expended only after the project or activity has been approved by the
18committee.

(3) On or before March 15 of each even-numbered year, the department
21shall submit to the chief clerk of each house of the legislature for distribution to the
22appropriate standing committees under s. 13.172 (3), a report identifying the
23department's use and expenditure of funds provided to the department under
16
24USC 669 to
669k or
777 to
777L.".
