Announcements, Adjournment Honors, and Remarks Under Special Privilege
Senator Schultz, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of of our friend and colleague, the Senator from the 11th. On this date, January 27, many greats in history were born. Among them: former NFL player Chris Collinsworth, Actress Mimi Rogers, Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court John Roberts, and Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. They are in good company indeed with the Senator from the 11th who celebrates his birthday today. He's even a bit of a celebrity himself. A few years back the CBS daytime drama "The Young and the Restless," set in Genoa City, Wisconsin, asked the Senator from the 11th to advise them on the script. One of their characters was elected to the Wisconsin State Senate, and since Genoa City is in the 11th District, CBS wanted some advice from the real State Senator. Senator Schultz is not sure the Senator from the 11th is quite as dashing as the former fictional state Senator Jack Abbott, but he does know this: the Senator from the 11th is the finest mustachioed legislator in the building. More importantly, the Senator from the 11th is a passionate leader on hunting, fishing, and natural resource issues in this state because he's an avid outdoorsman. As Chair of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Environment, he has earned the trust from folks on all sides of the issues because of his integrity and character. Senator Schultz believes he can speak for all members in this chamber when he wishes his good friend, and our colleague, the Senator from the 11th, a very Happy Birthday.
Senator Vinehout, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of her Chief of Staff, Linda Kleinschmidt. Linda has worked in the capitol for 25 years and today is celebrating her birthday. The Senator would like to take this opportunity to thank her for her work. Senator Vinehout is sure all of us here will understand her when she says, "I could not do what I do without you!"
Senator Hansen, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Senator Erpenbach, who is celebrating his Birthday tomorrow.
Senator Miller, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in memory of Gabriel "Gabe" Zimmerman, Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford's Director of Community Outreach, who died on January 8, 2011, while in service to the constituents of the 8th Congressional District of Arizona.
