One-Hundredth Regular Session
The Senate met.
The Senate was called to order by President Ellis.
The Senate stood for a moment of silence.
The Senate remained standing and Senator Erpenbach led the Senate in the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.
The Chief Clerk read the certification of election from the Government Accountability Board.
With unanimous consent, Senator Miller introduced the respective members as they came before the bar to be sworn in.

"Jessica King's inauguration as State Senator today is a testament to hard work and persistence.
Born and raised in Fond du Lac County, Jess overcame many life challenges at a young age. Becoming a ward of the state at age 15, Jessica put herself through college with hard work and scholarships, graduating from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and earning a law degree from Thomas Jefferson Law School.
Returning to Oshkosh, Jessica helped her parents as they battled cancer and kidney failure, opened her own small business and dedicated herself to giving back to the community that had given so much to her.
Jessica became very involved in a several community groups, served as an adjunct professor at University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, ran for Oshkosh City Council and served as Deputy Mayor of Oshkosh.
Please join me in welcoming Jessica King as the State Senator for the 18th District."
Senator Miller Introduced Senator Shilling
"Jennifer Shilling is new to the Senate but has a long history of working for the people of Western Wisconsin as a County Board supervisor, legislative aide and Assembly Representative for the 95th District.
In the Assembly, Jennifer was an outstanding advocate for the University of Wisconsin, K-12 public schools and our technical colleges, creating well-paying jobs and ensuring seniors, children and working families have access to affordable, health care.
As a mother of two young children, Jennifer was particularly skilled at reigning in the sometimes heated debate and restoring civility in the Finance Committee.
Among those joining us in wishing her well today as she takes the oath of office as State Senator for the 32nd District are her husband Chris, children Nathan and Zachary, sister Joy and other family and friends.
