Senator Kedzie, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of his wife, Kerrie Kedzie, and their 33rd Wedding Anniversary, which was March 10.

Heloise won the Badger State Spelling Bee in Madison on Saturday with the word "mellifluous." Next, she will head to Washington, D.C. to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

This group of Wisconsinites began their peaceful and joyous protest one year ago in the Capitol Rotunda. Each day at noon they express through song their views on the actions of their government. The tradition of protesting through song goes back to the earliest times of our nation's history. During the 20th century protest songs became an important way for people to express their feelings about civil liberties, civil rights, worker's rights, women's rights, gay rights, economic and social justice, politics and war. Over the decades, these songs have become an important part of the American culture. From well-known recording artists and singers to the ordinary people coming together to sing, their voices in melodious activism have succeeded in bringing out change in our nation. The Solidarity Singers each day keep this long tradition alive. Congratulations on their one-year anniversary of practicing freedom of speech through song.
