1An Act to repeal 97.18 of the statutes;
relating to: the serving and sale of

Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Current state law prohibits the serving of colored margarine at a public eating
place as a substitute for butter unless margarine is ordered by the customer. The law
also prohibits the serving of margarine in state institutions as a substitute for table
butter, except as necessary for the health of a patient or inmate. Finally, the law
contains specific requirements for the packaging and labeling of margarine for sale
at retail.
This bill repeals these provisions concerning the serving and sale of margarine.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
