Announcements, Adjournment Honors, and Remarks Under Special Privilege
Senator Schultz, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourns, it do so in honor of the UW Marching Band, who were verbally attacked before playing the national anthem at the Packer game. Not many things are more important than speaking out against hate speech, verbal abuse, and the bullying of young people. The UW band kept their professional composure and carried out a flawless performance. Senator Schultz is proud of how the UW band handled this terrible incident. They are great ambassadors for our university and our state.
Senator Wirch, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourns, it do so in honor of Al Bugalecki, who died at 93 years of age. He was a World War II veteran and a devoted family man. He worked at the American Brass for 40 years where he was Senator Wirch’s boss. He was a real gentleman and will be a great loss to the community.
Senator Harsdorf, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourns, it do so in honor of Colonel Curtis Brown from Hudson, Wisconsin, who was inducted into the United States Astronaut Hall of Fame in April 2013. Colonel Brown’s career as an accomplished astronaut, during which time he set many space records, is truly an inspiration.
Senator Lehman, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourns, it do so in honor of Beau Stafford, who recently left as his chief of staff. Beau served Senator Jauch, Senator Lehman’s office, and the people of Racine and the people of Wisconsin. Beau was especially helpful researching and helping with the recent discussion of metallic mining. Beau served admirably and will be greatly missed.
Senator Lassa, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourns, it do so in honor of Bill Ogdon of Stevens Point who passed away on September 19, 2013. Bill loved people and giving back to his community, and will be greatly missed by all those who had the opportunity to know him.
Senator Taylor, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourns, it do so in honor of Claudette Blackwell. Claudette was born at 2 pounds and wasn’t expected to live. She was fed buttermilk with an eye drop and didn’t walk until 4 or 5. She is a mother of 7 and a grandmother of many. Senator Taylor would like to congratulate her on 75 years of life.
Senator Leibham, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Mr. Bill Grider of Sheboygon. He was a great family friend who enjoyed the wonderful blessings of life.
