The Honorable, the Senate:
Please accept this letter as my formal resignation from the Wisconsin State Senate, effective the end of the business day, June 16, 2014. Since 1997, I have had the privilege and honor of representing the people of Wisconsin in the State Assembly and State Senate, but now it is time to begin the next chapter of my career and life.
As an elected official, I have been fortunate to have the support and trust of the constituents of the 11th Senate District and to serve in this body and participate in the greatest form of representative democracy. I will miss my time here, but will always value and cherish the contributions made to make Wisconsin the great state it is. I will also miss the fine men and women I have worked with over the years and the friendships made on both sides of the aisle.
I wish all my legislative colleagues the very best, and the very best for the State of Wisconsin.
